Sometimes it feels like the word 'narcissist' has become completely overused. But when I read about narcissistic traits, my ex has many of them, unfortunately.
And the thing that kills me is that it means, at the end of the day, our kiddo is not (and will never be) his number one priority. It's so incredibly difficult and heartbreaking to have to parent with someone who will never put his child first. It's a crazy exercise in understanding that there are many things in this world that are beyond my control, of course. But my kid should not have to suffer because of it. That's what makes me tear up every time I think of it - how unfair it is, that my kid wound up with a narcissistic parent. I love my kid more than anything in this world, and I hope that he always knows he's MY top priority.
